How to Quickly Assess the Quality of a Food

Calibrate focuses on maximizing the kinds of whole, nutritious foods your body was made to eat. This means  minimizing fast-digesting carbohydrates (and other “red foods”) and making healthier choices that include protein,  fiber, and healthy fats. To do this, we use the following decision tree. (Keep in mind that this is the in-depth version;  you’ll find a simpler shortcut in the booklet.)

Over time, you can start to challenge yourself to actively seek out lower ratio foods—5:1, for example, is a ratio you can feel great about! Remember, the goal is not to eliminate all red foods forever, but to be thoughtful and minimize their  consumption. You already know ice cream for dessert every night isn’t good for your health. But at Calibrate, you can  choose to have some at a birthday party; it’s all part of the program.
